Lahore |

--------------------------------- |
|
The City of Lahore, capital of Pakistan's Punjab province, was a very important venue in the independence movements of both India and Pakistan. India's Declaration of Independence was passed there on December 31, 1929. Also on this day in Lahore, India's tri-color flag was hoisted as the national flag for the first time.
Lahore was also where the Pakistan Resoultion was passed in 1940 - at which time Muhammed Ali Jinnah publicly proposed the Two Nation Theory.

Lahore is indeed a city with rich history - for Pakistanis, Hindus (legend has it that they city was founded by Lava, son of Rama), and Sikhs. Today, it is thought of as the cultural capital of Pakistan. Learn more about Lahore here. |
